Our previous correspondences with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) left off in November 2025 with asking for transparency on why certain mistakes in the past were made, and how we can be sure such mistakes will not happen again.

The EDC canceled the upcoming meeting and has yet to answer these questions.

Since then, the EDC has gone through a new change in their leadership.

On December 19, 2025, previous CEO Andrew Kimball announced he was stepping down with the change in mayoral administration in January.

On July 22nd, 2026, Mayor Mamdani announced an exciting new duo to lead the EDC; Anthony E. Shorrish is named the President, and Lina Khan is named the board chairwoman.

We are very relieved with these choices as both bring an awesome reputation. We really hope that the EDC will re-consider it’s position on the redevelopment of the Empire Outlets and former Wheel Sites.

When considering projects on the North Shore of Staten Island, specifically the waterfront corridor, the EDC has famously used a narrow lens when considering each project proposal.

For the synergy of our neighborhood, we ask to instead to consider also all other projects under EDC control in the surrounding area to address how they can all work in tandem to improve the lives of those of us who live in the community.
